Sterilisation Process
Trap-neuter-return (TNR) is the most humane and effective way of managing street dog populations, especially when combined with local promotion of responsible pet ownership.
Dogs are caught humanely by a team of rescuers and qualified vets. To cause minimal stress, they are sedated using tranquilisers in food or administered with a blow-pipe.
The sterilisation procedure is carried out by an experienced vet under anaesthetic.
The dogs are given pain relief and allowed to recover peacefully in the clinic.
Once recovered from the minor surgery, they are released into the same location they were found.
The sterilisation of street dogs saves thousands of unwanted puppies from being born on the streets, condemned to short lives filled with suffering, pain and fear.
